Snohomish County Resilience Builder

Latino Educational Training Institute (LETI)

An Anchor for Resilience in Hispanic and Latino Communities

The Latino Educational Training Institute (LETI) is a vital hub for Latino families in Snohomish County. It fosters resilience and empowers families through education, training, and community-building. Founded by Rosario Reyes in 1998, LETI ensures that Latino families have the tools and resources they need to create the foundation for young children to thrive.

Fostering Success of Hispanic and Latino People

LETI’s mission is to facilitate the personal and financial success of Spanish-speaking and bilingual people and inspire Latino youth to pursue their dreams and become community leaders. Through culturally responsive programs in both Spanish and English, LETI creates safe in-person and online spaces where families can build connections, gain knowledge, and access essential resources.

Programs are designed to strengthen bonds and promote a sense of belonging within the community. Examples include:

  • Cultural Identity and Belonging: By celebrating Latino traditions, language, and values, LETI fosters a strong cultural identity that helps children feel grounded and confident in who they are.
  • Strong Family Connections: Through workshops and community gatherings, LETI helps families strengthen emotional bonds and create a stable foundation for children’s development.
  • Child Care Circles: This innovative program supports Latino mothers needing pre-K childcare by fostering a cooperative exchange of childcare services. Through partnerships with Edmonds College, the University of Washington, and the Edmonds School District, participants gain valuable time for education or employment while ensuring their children receive care in a trusted environment.
  • Total Wellness of Latino Women: A cornerstone of LETI’s services, this program offers free personal and professional development workshops for women and their families. Led by staff and volunteers, it serves as an entry point for participants to connect with LETI while gaining access to a wide range of community resources.
  • Bridging Families to Community Services:  LETI bridges the gap between the Latino community and community services, providing families with information on healthcare, education, and financial stability. Weekly features on LETI TeVe further connect parents to valuable resources and knowledge.
